With more than 15 year's experience in the fields of climate change and the environment – including working for UNDP Yemen and UNDP's Regional Hub for the Arab States – Walid has a thorough knowledge of global policy frameworks including the Paris Agreement, UN Convention on Biological Diversity, Sendai Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction, and the Sustainable Development Goals. He has key experience in climate security and providing policy advice on strategies to scale up NDC implementation and accelerate the transition towards low-carbon and climate resilient development. Walid currently serves as regional technical advisor providing oversight for GEF biodiversity and ecosystem projects with in-depth knowledge on nature-based solutions. He holds a PhD in Environment and Development and Post-Doc in Environmental Economics.
