NDC Status 

Ethiopia submitted its updated NDC in July 2021.

Key highlights from the NDC
  • In its updated NDC, Ethiopia commits to a higher emissions reduction target of 68.8% – compared to 64% in the first NDC – 14% of which is to be an unconditional effort. 
  • The NDC of the fastest growing economy in the region also shows an improved methodology for reporting and tracking progress, and clarity on conditional and unconditional financing.
  • It also includes 40 adaptation interventions across the transport, energy (power), industry, water, and urban sectors.
