Climate experts and government representatives from across Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe are gathering in Yerevan, Armenia, from 12–15 May 2025 for a global exchange workshop organized by UNDP Climate Promise under a programme supported by the Japan Supplementary Budget (JSB).

The workshop will bring together representatives from eight countries: Armenia, Viet Nam, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Uzbekistan, Iraq and Yemen. Over the three days, it will offer a unique platform for early collaboration and peer exchange as countries launch a new round of climate action initiatives funded by JSB.

To date, Japan’s support through UNDP’s Climate Promise has allowed millions of people to access clean energy and climate-resilient livelihoods. These projects help UNDP deliver support to developing countries for the rapid implementation of climate solutions across key sectors. These one-year projects offer a glimpse of what can be achieved in a short timeframe and are the perfect opportunity to test out solutions that can be replicated at scale.

In 2023 and 2024, recipients of JSB funds gathered in Kenya and Sri Lanka respectively to share the outcomes of their interventions and learn from each other’s challenges and successes. This year’s workshop will take place at the outset of project inception, allowing participating countries to draw on lessons learned from the past and work closely together to focus on successful implementation.
