This knowledge product documents a wide array of country case studies from Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Paraguay illustrating how REDD+ action has achieved a range of the following objectives, such as:

  • Addressed current prevalent gender barriers and inequalities, including around land tenure, climate finance and benefit sharing.
  • Equitably increased the access and decision-making power of women and men over resources.
  • Empowered rural women and strengthened their capacity to influence rural and environmental public policies.
  • Improved women's agency, livelihoods and economic empowerment.
  • Generated new sustainable livelihoods, productive and economic opportunities for women in the forestry sector.
