Gianluca Merlo
Regional Technical Advisor - Climate Strategy and Policy
Gianluca is an engineer with extensive experience in the fields of energy, oil and gas, and water management. Since 2006, he has been consulting on emissions mitigation projects, greenhouse gas inventories, climate finance and climate change adaptation projects in Latin America and the Caribbean. He was the chief executive of the Latin American Carbon Program, CAF. Based in UNDP’s Regional Hub for Latin America and the Caribbean in Panama, Gianluca holds a Master of Arts Cum Laude in Environmental Engineering from the Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas and a specialization in Hydrogeology from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain.
