NDC Status

Chile submitted its revised NDC in April 2020.

Key highlights from the NDC
  • Chile added an absolute target of 95 MtCO2eq unconditional reduction by 2030 (excluding the forestry sector) and committed to peak emissions in 2025.
  • The updated NDC enhanced its adaptation component by updating its National Adaptation Plan and prioritizing the water sector.
  • It also integrated nature-based solutions and circular economy for addressing both mitigation and adaptation objectives.
  • In addition, its implementation roadmap ensured a just transition, and it includes a social pillar that aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals.
