Advancing NDC implementation in the AFOLU sector: Barriers, gaps and opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean

Latin America and the Caribbean is making progress in meeting climate commitments while protecting ecosystems and livelihoods. 

The Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector plays a pivotal role in this effort, as it is both a significant source of emissions and a powerful avenue for transformative solutions. 

This report examines how countries in the region are integrating AFOLU priorities into their climate strategies, highlighting progress, gaps, and emerging opportunities. 

It explores the enabling conditions needed to advance mitigation and adaptation goals, including strengthening governance and institutional capacities, improving access to innovative financing and technology transfer, while emphasizing approaches that deliver social and environmental co-benefits.
