Catherine Wong is UNDP’s Global Team Leader for Climate and Security Risk and principal technical lead on Climate, Peace and Security. She supports the work of UNDP’s Climate Hub and Crisis Bureau. Catherine possesses more than 20 years’ experience working on climate change and environment at the global level and in the field. She serves as UNDP’s focal point on the Climate Security Mechanism, the UN Water-led core group on Leveraging Water for Peace, and the Steering Committee of the Shared Waters Partnership. She was recognized as one of 25 Young Security Leaders by the Munich Security Conference and is an observer of the International Military Council for Climate and Security. Catherine is lead author or co-author of more than 30 publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles, UN studies and flagship publications on climate change, environmental sustainability, the climate, peace and security work area, and climate finance.
