NDC Status

Vanuatu has communicated another updated NDC with more enhanced components, particularly on adaptation and loss and damage, as compared to its already enhanced version submitted in 2021.

Key highlights from the NDC
  • Echoing the leadership of small island developing states worldwide, Vanuatu stepped-up ambition by expanding the coverage of their NDC to address emissions across the transport, energy, agriculture, forestry and land use, and waste sectors.
  • As well as mitigation measures by sector, the country added clear targets and measures on adaptation, including references to loss and damage, and identified circular economy opportunities for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions.
Adaptation and resilience areas in the NDC
  • Agriculture
  • Water
