NDC Status

Zambia submitted its updated NDC in July 2021.

Key highlights from the NDC
  • Although Zambia’s commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions remained consistent with their first NDC – pledging, with limited international support, to reduce emissions by 25% by 2030, or by 47% with substantial international support – the updated NDC showed progression by broadening the scope of sectors and elaborating the adaptation component including the preparation of a National Adaptation Plan.
  • The updated NDC also describes how it aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Adaptation and resilience areas in the NDC
  • Agriculture and food security
  • Health
  • Nutrition
  • Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
  • Education
