NDC Status

Armenia submitted its revised NDC in May 2021. EU

The revision of the NDC was supported by the European Union (EU) through the EU4Climate initiative. Funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP, EU4Climate supports six countries in the Eastern Partnership implement the Paris Agreement and improve climate policies and legislation. In Armenia, EU4Climate is now providing support with preparing the Financing Strategy for NDC implementation.

Key highlights from the NDC
  • Armenia set its unconditional mitigation target to 40% below 1990 levels and changed the NDC timeframe from 2015-2050 to 2021-2030.
  • The country plans to increase solar energy capacity from the current 59.57 MW to 1000 MW before 2030 and the forest cover to 12.9% of the territory by 2030.
  • The adaptation component in the NDC was enhanced and transparency was strengthened through the introduction of a national measurement, reporting, verification (MRV) system.
