Georgia submitted its revised NDC in May 2021.
The revision of the NDC was supported by the European Union (EU) through awareness-raising events organized under the EU4Climate initiative. Funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP, EU4Climate supports six countries in the Eastern Partnership implement the Paris Agreement and improve climate policies and legislation. In Georgia, EU4Climate is now providing support with preparing the NDC Financing Strategy and Investment Plan.
Key highlights from the NDC
- Georgia took on a conditional commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50-57% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels, subject to international support.
- The country also increased its unconditional greenhouse gas emissions reduction target to 35% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels.
- The NDC includes measures to reduce losses and damages caused by extreme weather events.
