Regional Technical Advisor for Africa, Climate Change Mitigation

Stephen Kansuk is a Regional Technical Advisor at UNDP, working on climate change mitigation and energy in Africa. He is an experienced climate and energy policy and programme advisor, researcher, lawyer, and analyst committed to addressing the energy access gap and financing in Africa. Stephen began his career in international development at the UNDP Ghana Office in 2012. From 2021 to 2024, he led the Nature, Climate and Energy team at UNDP Ghana, managing the largest portfolio and pipeline in the country office. In this capacity, he also served as the technical advisor to the UN Country Team on environment and climate change. Stephen holds a PhD in Climate Finance and Justice and a Master’s degree in Energy and Environmental Management from Glasgow Caledonian University, UK.
